How to find winning traders on Polymarket
The best part of an on-chain market: everyone's record is public. You can browse profiles, see real P&L and decide who's worth following. But the leaderboard is easy to misread.
What to look for
- Consistency over time, not one hot week. A trader up big on a single lucky bet tells you nothing.
- Volume and style: a scalper placing thousands of small trades is a very different follow than someone making a few large convictions.
- Realised vs open: big "profit" can be unrealised paper gains that haven't resolved yet.
Traps to avoid
Survivorship bias: the top of any leaderboard is, by definition, the people who got lucky recently. Don't confuse a good week with a durable edge. And a whale's returns don't scale to a small account — you can't mirror six-figure positions with $50.
How to use it
Pick a trader with a long, steady record, copy them in paper first, and only then decide whether their style suits your risk. Verify everything on their public profile — don't take a screenshot's word for it.
